Mad Men reads like a PBS series
Now that Mad Men has moved to AMC from HBO I can tune in or out. It is clearly and cleverly set in the early sixties. The sets are flawless recreations of the times complete with orange walls done in beautiful faux ala sponge.
I know because I had a yen for the look and decorated with same colors direct from the bright 60s.
What is not to love about the gorgeous Draper? He looks like a man and plays it close to the vest like a doting god of the bottom line for London Fog.
His travel companion who looks gay (to me) but claims to be married nervously trips up the down low lane with a swarthy elevator boy. Then the fire alarm halts further hotel action unseemly but sexy.
Draper plays the infidelity card too. Since we are in the mean 60s before Kennedy, King and Bobby are killed the road to implosion is yet unchartered and thus far no blacks are seen on stage. Enter the invisible men along side the mad men.
Stayed tuned for color.
