IMO Alex Wagner is not black

Alex in 2001 she has aged

Here’s another observation I made about Alex that adds to my hypothesis that she is NOT black.  Her ear lobes are attached. That is far more common in whites observed than in other races.  Also I think I see a wedding band on her left hand.  That would indicate, although, not online, that she is married and is using her married name.

If I had photos or names of her parents I could end the speculation.  She looks Eurasian which equals NOT Black.

I borrowed and cropped this photo. She was at an event with a guy who looks Hispanic. From the bio I read she is half German and half black.  Wagner is a german name so perhaps her dad is German.  I don’t think she is married so that would be her maiden name.  She was born and raised here.   But if she is actually biracial and does not look black then she is by default white.

Given the naturally high percentage of European blood most blacks have including myself, even my blood type it is safe to say that Alex is more white than she is black at least 85%. She might marry black or think she is culturally black. But wait let’s look see at her pedigree. Where did she come from?

She is a native of DC and has hobnobbed with the rich and famous. I used to wear my hair exactly like she wears it on the show (not in the pic) for a long time. She went to Brown University which was my first choice except I was  so tired of cold weather and sunless days that I opted for California universities.

She went to Brown therefore IMO she ain’t black. Follow her on Twitter.

  1. Hi,
    .
    Based on the data you have posted on this topic —
    I thought that you might also enjoy reading (and,
    perhaps, even sharing) the following information .
    .
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    .
    Here is a brief COMMENTARY on … the constant
    misapplication (to the people who are of
    part-Black / Mixed-Race Lineage)
    of the racist ‘One-Drop Rule’**:
    [** NOTE: The racist ‘one-drop’ “rule” was made ‘illegal’
    in the U.S. in 1967 by the U.S. Supreme Court via the
    ‘Loving vs. VA’ case – where the U.S. Supreme Court ruled …
    — 1) All ‘Anti-Miscegenation’ Laws found throughout the U.S.;
    — 2) The racist ‘VA Racial Integrity Act’ (upon which most
    of the anti-miscegenation ‘laws’ were founded); and
    — 3) The (‘black-lineage mocking’ and exceedingly) racist
    ‘One-Drop Rule’ (upon which the ‘Act’ was based.)
    … as being ‘UN-Constitutional’ (i.e. illegal, banned, etc.).]
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    .
    … THE FACTS are as follows:
    .
    1) It is often a surprise for people to learn that, in reality, there
    is actually No Such Thing As a “Light Skinned Black” person.
    .
    2) Very few people seem to be aware of the fact that the term
    “Light Skinned Black” is really nothing more than a racist
    oxymoron created by Racial Supremacists in an effort to
    forcibly deny those Mixed-Race individuals, who are of
    a Multi-Generational Multiracially-Mixed (MGM-Mixed)
    lineage, the right to fully embrace and to also received
    public support in choosing to acknowledge the truth
    regarding their full ancestral heritage and lineage.
    .
    3) The people who have been slapped with the false label
    and oxymoronic misnomer of “Light Skinned Black” person
    are simply Mixed-Race individuals — who are from
    families that have been CONTINUALLY Mixed-Race
    THROUGHOUT multiple generations.
    .
    4) Seeing that every other Mixed-Race group is allowed
    the dignity of receiving support in having itself referred
    to by the term that it most prefers – the question becomes
    “Why should the situation be any different for those
    Mixed-Race individuals who are of an Multi-Generational
    Multiracially-Mixed (MGM-Mixed) lineage?”.
    .
    5) If an MGM-Mixed individual would like to be referred to
    by the term ‘Mixed-Race’ (which is what they actually are)
    rather than by that of “Light-Skinned Black“ (a term, which,
    once again, has the racist-origin of being nothing more
    than an oxymoronic-phrase that was both created and
    coined by Racial Supremacists in an effort to try to deny
    these Mixed-Race people their right to and support in
    publicly acknowledging and also embracing their
    FULL-Lineage) there is no reason that they
    (like every other group on the planet — whether
    Mixed-Race or not) should not be allowed the right to
    choose the term that society uses in referring to them (and
    to have their full-lineage acknowledged within that term).

    • Wow was not aware that the law was now illegal. The other info I was aware of because my family is a long line of mixed race people as you say. And we are different in that we appear mediterranean and of all hues. Light skin means nothing in my book. The features, the bearing the culture and the lineage of multiple race have made creoles for example look more white than just biracial people. That’s ironic. People asked my kids which of their parents was white assuming the green eyes and extraordinary amount of long hair made them candidates for biracialness.

      Thank you for the links also. Heloise

  4. You’re right she’s not black, but she’s not white either. She’s Burmese. The country is now called Myanmar, but I do not know what the people are now called. Myanmarians perhaps? Anyway like most of the people who’s families were exiled they still refer to the country as Burma.

    • No, that’s not what I read. Her bio says that she is German and black. I never read anything about Burma. If she is Burmese, which I have not verified, then she would be Asian or Eurasian which again would make her akin to North Indians and therefore WHITE.

    • Wait….WHAT? Burmese people have no genetic ties to North Indians. And are definitely not white. Indo-European or Indo- Aryan (the genetic group that many North Indians belong to make up 1.5% of the population. Burmese people are about as different from North Indians as black people are from white people (genetically speaking). Same is true for east Asians. Are you making the case that there are only two ethnicities (black and white)?

    • You misunderstood me. I mean Indians from India as in the Punjab or Pakistanis. Not Native Americans as we call them. Indians means Asians. Not saying only two races, black is a race and white is a race not an ethnicity. North Africans and North Indians (India) as well as Arabs are all Caucasian. That’s what I am saying. She looks like one of them even if she is biracial as I beleive.

  5. I believe, Alex Wagner is a Burmese exile. She is an advocate for Burmese human rights. MSNBC is keeping quiet on her past. , Burma, a SE Asian country is next to China and Thailand and the people are under persecution by the goverment. Alex’s past is a mystery. Is she an American citizen ? Is she working under a green card ? Does she have relatives in Burma that she is protecting ? Please MSNBC , release her BIO

  6. Your piece sounds really envious and angry. She is cute and smart and an excellent bloviator. Cut her a break, eh?

  7. I understand your larger point … but how do you come up with that 85%? Unless you know specifically her background (presumably her mom’s if her father is German) then it’s just conjecture.

    Being bi-racial, I think I’m more sensitive to appearance of other ‘part black’ and multiracial feature than most. I can usually guess. She’s a tough one to figure out. Has a bit of an Asian look but that could be native american or even none at all. Perhaps adopted?

    I’m Portuguese & Black. More Portuguese than Black (5/8). Often mistaken for Indian or mediteranean. More so my siblings.

    She’s on MSNBC’s Morning Joe right now. Guess building her profile. Gosh, she’s gorgeous!

    • Thanks for your comment. After decades of observing Creoles and biracial people I know this when the dad is black the kids 95% of the time look black vs biracial. If the dad is white and the mom does not have a lot of European genes then the kid like carol Moseley braun son will just look like a regular African American.

      My kids have green eyes and fair skin and looked white when small kids. They have at least 75% European genes. I give educated guesses.

      Yes Alex looke Asian but her last name is German. I can’t find the ref that stated she was half German. She looks part German too. The black straight hair makes her look Asian and her nose. But whites have Asian genes and African ones too.

  8. Alex Wagner is multicultural.

    It is truly ignorant to simply label someone as Black or White. If her mother or father is German (since you REALLY don’t know), than her background shouldn’t be reduced to simple terms such as Black or White. Furthermore, how do you know her father isn’t West-Indian (i.e. Trinidadian)? In fact, how do you know her father is not German-Jamaican and her mother isn’t from Thailand? You don’t. Therefore, you should not bother to assume (or provide us with your ignorant “educated guess”).

    Now, you also stated, because “She went to Brown therefore IMO she ain’t black.”

    No offense, but that has to be one of the most ignorant statements I’ve ever heard. To further discredit your statement (the opinion you have claimed), you also said, “She went to Brown University “which was my first choice…”

    Hmmm… So, it’s either you do not consider yourself Black either, or you are simply hating on the fact she was accepted into Brown Univ, and you were not. In fact, I’m willing to bet you didn’t get accepted to any prestigious institution in USA.
    Heading to Cali was simply a way to escape your reality… and to possibly forge a new one for yourself.

    [[Sorry, but telling the World on your blog you are pretty and smart does not make it fact. Intelligence can be measured, and beauty often rests in the eye of the beholder. That said, smart people are smart enough to never make mention of their intelligence since it is often proven through their actions, and and truly beautiful people never have to tell others they are beautiful. Only insecure people seeking reassurance from their peers seemingly find it necessary to tell people they are smart and/or pretty.]]

    Alex Wagner is of mixed heritage, as are many Americans (including myself and my siblings). For arguments sake, if you are anything but “White” in America, you are labeled as “minority”, and in many instances, are reminded of that fact in one way or another throughout your life.

    One’s race should not define one’s character. If going to prestigious schools, getting a good job, and speaking intelligently makes one less Black… Then I feel sorry for your train of thought (since unfortunately this “White Man’s” society has trained you well).

    The concept of Race is one of man’s greatest obstacles to the advancement of our species. Things rarely are as simple as Black, White, Red, or Yellow. The Irish man and the Scottish man are very different than the German man and the French man. The Chinese are different than the Japanese – the Indian different from the Pakistani, etc. Have you ever seen a fair-skinned (White), and/or Asian-Jamaican? Good luck trying to tell them they’re not Jamaican. They are culturally Jamaican to the core. Many refuse to be called “White” or “Asian”. To them, and to their loved ones, they are simply Jamaican.

    Going back to your ignorant statement (the opinion you own) — saying someone is less black because they went to Brown Univ. or have rich friends is moronic. There are plenty or “Black” people in the USA with rich friends. They’re called celebrities, athletes, and entrepreneurs (to name a few). They are no more less “Black” because of the reasons for which you have ascribed.

    I suppose being “Black” to you means being poor and stupid, right? Well, if that’s the case best of luck to you and your offspring. Otherwise, I strongly suggest you begin reading and editing what you write before sharing with the world.

    I rest my case.

  9. Yes, I know you meant Indians from Indian. It was obvious. Blanket statements like:
    “North Africans and North Indians (India) as well as Arabs are all Caucasian.”
    do not help your argument. First of the majority of Arabs and North Indians are not genetically white. That’s just false. Look at the data. It’s not even close.
    While it is true that North Indians are genetic decedents of caucasians that migrated east about 100,000 years ago. There was a lot of interbreeding before India went to cast system. While the visual color difference between southern and northern indians in stark, genetically a light northern is genetically closer to a dark southerner, and say for example a German. I choose Germany because the German nomadic tribes are the caucasians said to migrated east and settled in India.

    • Language roots determine who is white or aryan. That’s why south Indians or dravidians and africans, beyond Egypt, will never be Aryans. Sanskrit is the root of modern languages.

  10. Your entire diatribe is the most stupid piece of trash I have ever read. Pedigree? She isn’t a dog. She is white based upon the university she went to? Are you kidding? For sure you are a buffoon and a green-eyed one at that. Alex is bright, gorgeous and has her own show. If I didn’t have a girl crush on her, I might be jealous too.

    • When someone has nothing to say or to offer they attack the messenger. My other post about her has over 10,000 hits and counting.

      Sorry you hate Heloise.

  11. skins color is dictated by alleles which are basically the different variations a gene comes in. Alleles group together to create a phenotype, which is what you mean when you say black or white. A phenotype is an expression of an organisms traits through genes. Race has no actual scientific meaning. When you say race you mean a group of phenotypes which may appear to “group” themselves together, but there is in fact no “grouping” as genes are engaged in their own mission to create copies of themselves and hence are independent and “selfish”. Further more when you say race you usually are discussing a set of cultural practices or dogmas which in fact have no innate part of dna, nor are they a phenotype and, at most have a weak correlation to actual alleles. Also there are several alleles that make up skin color. they are not dominant but rather have incomplete dominance, meaning when when the alleles are expressed as a phenotype (an observable trait) they are both expressed. Why this is important : ) because you carry more alleles than the ones expressed in you. In short when you have children you will pass on some of these alleles and there is no gurantee that the resulting phenotype will be the same as the one expressed in you. It is totally possible for two people, dark as night, to have a white child and visa versa. It is just unlikely due to the allele matrix. a simplified matrix looks like this

    parent a (slightly “mixed”)

    Black (allele) Black White

    p White wb wb ww
    a
    r
    e White wb wb ww
    n
    t

    b Black bb bb bw

    So you see that the chance of being white/black is 5/9 while the chance of being all black or all white is 2/9 for each. this is an oversimplification but it gives you an idea of why some people look light and others look dark. As for why she is black, I would thank the United States Prison System which continues to segregrate based on “race” which in fact is not a scientific term but a laymen or colloquial term used to explain culture and phenotype correlations.

    • did you read my title I don’t think she is black or classified as such. Genetics is complex when you add rebirth into the mix. Thanks

  12. The point of the article is . . . essentially no one is black . . . or white. Science .. . . its not just like . . . . an opinion . . . man.

    • the opposite is really true. if mexicans are white then perhaps everybody is.

    • Sounds like the argument my well intentioned White sister in law makes about ‘no race’. She has a PhD in anthropology. From a purely scientific POV, I can understand that.

      Now go tell that to the parents of the black kid who just got shot in Florida. Or to the disproportionate number of black individuals pulled over on the NJ Turnpike. Or black guys trying to hail a cab in NYC. Hey, there’s no such thing as race. Your complexion and hair has nothing to do with it. Must be something else at play.

      Bottom line … society reacts differently to people with certain visual characteristics, we commonly group by ‘race’. No way around it. Call it whatever you will. Is Justice Thomas the same race as Scalia?

    • good comment. I have a MA in anthropology and while there are some holes in their arguments I teach black, white and brown kids and black kids are different in more than one way especially the ones who are not racially mixed to any visible degree. there is such a thing as race and racial types.

  13. Yeah and there is such a thing as witches and shamans, Thats just stupid. Race is a figment of peoples imaginations. Thats why its stupid to be racist. Because, for all intensive purposes, its superstitious. Why not judge people on how many creases they have in their hand or whether they are double jointed. Because color is the first thing you see. Superficial. No science backs up what you are saying. What is attributed to race has clearly been proven to be a mixture of cultural bias and perspective. What a joke. It is insane that after all of the people in this world, whether in science or in philosophy and religion, who have worked so hard to prove (not guess or use faith, but prove) that race is as outdated as saying the earth is the center of the universe that we even have to have this conversation. People should be ashamed. What a joke. There is a difference between people. Its called stupidity. And the stupid people have been dragging the rest of human RACE down for awhile now. They really should get their own planet.

  14. BTW I am not your well intentioned white sister. I see people everyday discriminate against people of color. The reason they are WRONG is because color is not indicative or a certain “race”, Otherwise they would be right to judge based on color. People should be judged based on actions. Judgments should be merit based, reflecting people actions. Thats call objectivity. Thats called being humble enough to realize you live in a universe in which you do not have the monopoly on revelation. After this “race discussion” we should decide whether all people are entitled to equal rights, or whether all the major religions have an equal right to be practiced. Maybe then we can decide what force bends space and allows things to fall towards objects of mass. We can interview the tooth fairy for that one.

    • Gravity is real and it’s the law whether you believe it or not, just like rebirth. There is race and it plays a big part in why there are so many multiracial and biracial people now. It’s a stage between white and black.

      I am not arguing with you because you don’t know enough and I guess I am the stupid racist.

  15. Your realize she’s Burmese, right?

  16. You realize she is Burmese, right?

  17. A Proud Bi-Racial Woman also named HELOISE

    If you are biracial, can you tell me the point-scale that determines which race is superior to the other? Because judging by your post and replies regarding the comments, it seems like you’re a supremacist.
    Given your thought-process, even though you’re “white by default,” I hope you wouldn’t expect to be greeted with open arms.
    Your post has “ignorant” written ALL.OVER.IT.

  18. She doesn’t look white.. You obviously have no idea what being black means and you are ignorant.

  19. Alex Wagner’s mother in from Burma also known as Myanmar and Asia country and her father is a european from Iowa. So Alex is not Black, alex is Asia and White. I have no dog in the fight against her being black as I am black, however according to her own Bio she is again Asia and White.

  20. Sorry about the missspelled words in my original comment I’m quite tired, I’m going to log off now.

  21. Comical reading all this stuff showing how much you harp and obsess over ethnicity and race. A little sad after i stopped laughing.

  22. all you fцсктаяds debating the race of some empty skirt newscaster have way too much time on your hands.

  23. have her put down the percentages and have it approved by the US govrnment, I had to do it, but what do I know, I’m just some dumb indian or native american, whichever is politically correct

  24. Some of the points made in this discussion make it very clear that this thing called “race” does not really make sense.

    How on earth can you claim race is based on language groups, and in one fell swoop put Arabs and Jews into a group labelled Caucasian? Arabic and Hebrew are Semitic languages, which are part of the Afro-Asiatic family. Somalis, Ethiopians, and Eritreans speak languages from these groups, and rest assured they are not “Caucasian”, whatever that means. Europeans, on the other hand, speak languages that, for the most part, belong to the Indo European language family..

    Whoever first conceived of distinct groups called races was delusional IMHO. All I see when I look at people from all over the world is a wide spectrum of skin, hair and eye colors and hair textures. I see gradual changes when moving from North to South and from East to West. No drastic differences that would render race a distinct genetic category. The fact that today we talk about race as if it is actually a genetic or linguistic category is proof that humans can believe anything and turn it into “the truth” within a couple of centuries.

    On Alex Wagner, I suspect most people here don’t know anything about her. So it would be best not to presume to talk about her ethnicity with authority. People can’t be put into little boxes and labelled. And not everybody or everything fits within the simplistic black vs white dichotomy of America.

  25. I’m a follower of Alex Wagner, she is Phillipino. I know this because of the friends I have of phillo decent tell and act like groupies. I also read this in a bio I came across. She does have a primary concern or item on her agenda.: get rid of guns, mostly semi auto’s and high velocity weapons. I’m with her…better world without that, everything can be discussed.

  26. She’s Burmese not black.

  27. Who the hell cares. Besides, the 1 drop rule still apply to majority of whites. Sick of race and people not wanting to be black. Thanks to God he made me who and what I am. To hell with all that don’t approve.

  28. She is half Burmese and half white people.

  29. Appreciation to my father who told me regarding this weblog,
    this website is in fact amazing.

  30. Jesus F. Christ . . . Alex Wagner is NOT black. She is part Asian and part Caucasian, THE END.

    Why is someone as totally ignorant as you are a damned TEACHER? Is the educational system that hard up for qualified teachers? Did you get in under affirmative action?

    Because I never had a teacher, black or white, as ignorant as you are. Merely your delving into the subject of Miss Wagner’s racial background, as you do with everyone, is pathetic . . . and screams racism.

  31. Alex Swe Wagner has a Burmese mother and a German American father. She is married to Barack Obama’s half-brother, Richard. An easy answer for all if the very long responses I read that had so little to do with her.

  32. ALex said that she is Oriental!

  33. if your partially black your still at risk for hatred due to black genetics so who cares ..—-><

  34. This is interesting, You happen to be a good too much expert tumblr. I’ve got signed up with your current rss feed and show off onward to be able to seeking really your outstanding publish. As well, I have got contributed your site around my myspace

  35. Do you have a mental disorder? You should consider seeing a psychologist for schizophrenia or perhaps schizotypal disorder. You seem paranoid, have incoherent ramblings, delusions of grandeur and have an odd fixation on arbitrary things such as whether someone is black or Jewish. Strange.

    There’s nothing wrong with mental disorders, but left untreated they can be dangerous to yourself and others.

  36. OMG what a dissertation on one-drop, light-skined, racial mix, etc. Alex Wagner’s mother is from Burma (Myanmar) and her father is a white American from the midwest. No black there folks! Nothing wrong with it, but she is clearly Asian-American.

    Read this:

    Wagner grew up in Washington, D.C., attended Woodrow Wilson High School,[2] and graduated from Brown University in 1999.[3][1] Her mother, Tin Swe Thant, is an immigrant from Rangoon, Burma.[1] Her father, Carl Wagner, is from Iowa and of German and Irish descent, and is a prominent Democratic Party political consultant who co-chaired Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign.[4] Wagner was raised Roman Catholic.[5]

  37. Actually she is half Burmese, half German/Irish . Not Black at all. Burmese people come from Burma, now known as Myanmar, a Southeast Asian country about the size of Texas with. 50 million inhabitant.

    You might find the info on Wikipedia bio on her and if not,then search Anglo Burmese in Wikioedia and you will find her in the list in the content of the article.
