The Great White Shark
I learned a thing or two about writing from one of the greats Christopher Hitchens. Like the shark he never sleeps nor closes his eyes when it comes to putting ink on the page or fingers to the board.
He had a disrespect for religion and for God that was probably quite healthy. What was not healthy was his disregard for his body because we know he filled it with cigarettes and alcohol. It got him in his throat and it took his life before he could complete treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas where he died Thursday surrounded by family and friends.
Even if he did not want God to intervene in his life or death he did want the doctors to help him live a little longer and write a few more quotable works.
