Drunk driver in El Paso kills five with his truck

I just saw part of this story on the evening news.  Jassmine was black and had just graduated from high school and made a quick trip to  El Paso to visit cousins.  So she may have been part Mexican but she looked black to me.  The rest of the victims were Mexican and they all five were killed by a drunk driver, see below, and three of the victims were children, along with two adults.  This is all too common in Texas with Mexicans.  Not only can they not drive when sober but DWIs seem to be a way of life for people who  should not be drinking and driving!

Five victims of alleged drunk driving accident identified

Five victims, including a teenager and two children, have been identified: Humberto Alferez, 63, Aurora Sombra, 52, Jassmine Alferez, 18, Brenda Morales, 12, and DeMarco Morales, 11. The two younger children’s names are according to a family member and have not been released by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect, Alberto Coronado, allegedly drove his Ford F-250 straight through a stop sign at a two-way stop in Montana Vista Sunday afternoon.
Coronado smashed into a Chevy Impala with the five victims inside.
Coronado has been booked into the El Paso County Jail and is facing five counts of Intoxication Manslaughter. His bond is set at $750,000. . KFOX14 News discovered that Coronado was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated Dec. 23, 2011.
According to the December arrest affidavit, Coronado was allegedly speeding and admitted to the officer that he had been drinking.
KFOX crews went to Coronado’s home Monday and spoke with his sister. She did not give her name and said that her family has nothing to say to the victims’ family.
“We actually don’t want to make it worse,” the sister said through a half-opened door. “We’re just going to say, ‘No comment.”

Monday night on KFOX14 News at 9, KFOX speaks with a woman who’s known Humberto Alferez for 21 years. She said this is the second family tragedy during a family trip between El Paso and Dallas.

MSNBC hawking commerical PRO illegal alien citizenship

I have to fast forward or put on mute the commerical that MSNBC has been running about a soldier who was granted citizenship after he was killed.  It’s a freaking job that they are paid to do.  Yes, it is one that can cause death or injury but it is mostly voluntary and a route that many illegals choose in order to gain citizenship.  It’s a freaking job going into the army, going into the navy or the marines or wherever.   This is service field just like teaching.  And teachers have an emotional burdens as well.

I hate that commercial and wish they would stop running it.  I wonder who’s behind that thing?  MSNBC loves illegals and can’t deny that one.

Should trial by jury be abolished?

Jury Duty (film)

Here’s a comment I wrote that addresses this question:

Victor,
my daughter and I were talking about this on yesterday. She was called for jury duty, she is a PT with a clinical doctorate, and once I was called for jury duty for a murder trial. I have a master’s degree.

It turns out that I knew the twins who were on trial for capital one murder. They had been my students and were classified as SPEDs. The lawyers had me sworn in and asked me questions for at least two hours. And as a lawyer in my last life I love to talk and talked away. They hung on my every word and then did not pick me nor my daughter (recently) for jury duty.

She said her defendant was a doctor and thought that it would be in his best interest if people like her were selected for his jury. She was a peer. I told her that she didn’t get it. The defense picks the jury and some jurors are swatted down or jettisoned after some talk. I was one of them.

The defense “DUMBS down” the jury. There I said it. That’s your headline: the jury is not one of peers but ones that suit the defense and the outcome they want “not guilty!”

Sure lots of circumstantial cases get the death penalty, esp. if they are black, illegals, brown Mexicans, or white men who kill their white wife and unborn child (Scott Peterson). There you have it. A jury of your dumbest peers is what our legal system is all about. It is not about a fair trial by a jury but about who gets picked to sit on one.

Perhaps we should abolish juries as they have served their purpose because, drumroll they can be FIXED. Juries are as shady as the people who sit for trials. In the Casey case they were dumb as dull knives in a drawer full of sharp scissors (liars).

If I had been on this jury I would have pointed out that since the prosecution or the laws were at fault and there was no crime on the books for what that lying broad did to her dead three year old…would have gone for the lowest of the major defenses at least one felony on her record would be nice, regardless to whether it fit. Then everybody would have been happy because she would have gotten another ten years and there would have been no need for appeal or by appeal time she would be released for time served, another seven to ten years.

Justice is not blind it’s lazy!

This is Swampyank's copy of "The Jury&quo...

That’s my verdict on this jury.  They wanted to go home they had missed the fourth and the fries and just wanted to get out of there.  No real winning over.  The jury did not even take notes during the majority of the trial.  This is not a lesson in anything but laziness and simple minded shit.

I think the state of Florida wasted a whole bunch of money.  But if they had found her guilty of killing her child, but in this case we find the child killed herself and then dumped her own body in a swamp, we’ve all heard of such cases before; then the appeals would have been expensive and OMG not another trial that would have been expensive too.  So, the moral is media hyped kept this woman off death row because if a jury from Orlando had been there they would have found her guilty of killing this kid.

Orlando Florida locals are mad as hell at this verdict

You thought people were mad at the OJ verdict well people all over the country including really top lawyers are in shock. This jury never asked a damn question, never thought twice about coming back with not guilty on all counts.  What a piece of crock.  It looks like reasonable doubt, and not liking the prosecution.  NOT one member of the jury wants to talk to the media and he will not release the names of the jury.  Is that legal? They are part of the public domain.

The jury is out for deliberations

For the last hour the jury has been out on the Casey Anthony murder one trial.  Verdict watch now.

Judge threatens to kick the leads off if this shit continues

There are other attorneys in the case and the judge has threated to throw the two lead attorneys the defense and the prosecution off the case and have the remaining attorneys complete the closings.  This judge is one tough guy.

Ashton no longer in Baez sight, Judge rules==WTF?

Exclaim personal attack

Image via Wikipedia

Judge Perry is funny he misspoke a bit.  He said “if this don’t make a hill of a bean.”  I think that idiom goes “a hill of beans” judge.

But wow, double wow, Baez has made one personal attack on the prosecution after another.  But it does not wash with the judge.  It seems that he has removed Ashton from Baez’s line of sight. That’s not certitude. It may be that the attorneys decided that one.  They have been asked to review the videotape of their behavior.  No audible comments, no gestures, no facial looks that might signal disproval.  I wish this were true of teachers who can act a fool if they so please.  That won’t wash in a case of law or a court of law.

Wow, never heard of that before have you? Judge Perry looked at the video and said that both, get this both of the attorneys have violated his orders not to clown, not to call anyone out, and not to act up.  Both did both.  Okay.

Casey Anthony closing arguments today

Since the defense and the prosecution have both rested their cases the closing arguments are due and then there are the deliberations which could begin Saturday.  My take is that lying does not prove that Casey did not kill her little girl, no matter who all in her family has lied they have not faked their grief and loved that little gal too much to kill her and hide it for Casey.  No way did the family do this Casey did it!

Deadly Shooting in Yuma, AZ 5 dead 1 was attorney

The shooter apparently took his own life, the Sun reported.

Yuma police spokesman Clint Norred told the Sun that the shootings were connected.

Four fatalities took place in the county and the fifth person was killed inside Yuma, a city of 91,000 along the Colorado River.

The downtown Yuma victim was attorney Jerrold Shelley, who was shot and killed, colleagues told the Sun. Norred would not confirm victims’ identities.

The Arizona Republic said Shelley was shot at his office, a quarter-mile from the county courthouse.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office was called to the first scene this morning, when the body of a woman was found in a yard at Avenue 35-1/2E and Old Highway 80, the Sun said.
