Now you tell me: Ambassador Stevens gay? MUST READ

In case you missed “Brideshead Revisited” back in the day you can watch it streaming on Netflix.  It is for the true anglophile like myself.  It was profoundly well done.  About two white Englishmen one middle class one from the upper crust which was the true meaning of high falutin folks.  But the problem if Stevens was gay is that the Arab world is fiercely anti gay and homophobic in the extreme and the frazy indefensible.  As you may know and reported that Stevens was sodomized and then killed.  I kept wondering about that.  I mean why would they sodomize this man?  It may have been done with an object rather than an actual organ.  How horribly cruel of these bigots.

Dino explained in great detail that the brutal sodomizing of Stevens’ corpse was something that Muslims do to show the “utmost disrespect to the body” and that this is “a great insult in Islam” reserved for homosexuals.  ”It is like making him a woman in death and he will be a woman now after life” the Serbian explained to me.  There’s a good chance this guy was Muslim too, and gay, which makes my head spin more than a little since he seemed to have no anger at all in his voice that Muslims in Libya assassinated the American ambassador and then sodomized his corpse.

Olivia Spencer wins Oscar

Ove Overmyer With Melissa Harris-PerryThat’s a big deal and a big gal. I could have predicted as much when I blogged my review for The Help.

If you have not seen the movie you can get it from Netflix.  It is worth the time.  Her character was alive, real and not corny in the least.  I don’t know what problem Melissa Harris has with the film but she said the acting was good.

Take it from a reviewer who gets it right most of the time: Spencer gave an Oscar-worthy performance.  You can take that to the bank.

Reel short take: A Better Life

Palm trees lining streets in San Jose, California

Now that the star of A Better Life Mexican actor Demian Bichir has been given the Oscar nod for best actor people want to know who he is.  All because they probably did not see the film in the first place.  I just rented it from Netflix last week.

It is about a man and his son, the dad is illegal and the son is an anchor baby.  It opens with Demian going to work in a truck with his Mexican boss who works for the rich gringos in California trimming their large palm trees.   Demian’s boss keeps pushing him to buy the truck and start his own business and to make a better life for himself.  Demian resists because he does not have a legal license and fears he will be caught and jailed because of it.

He was right about that.  He asks his sister for the 10K that his boss wants for the truck and all the tools as well.  Sounds like a good deal.  So with the money he buys the truck and goes to a local spot where he once stood to pick up a Mexican illegal to work for him now.

He choses an older man who looks trustworthy.  But when Demian goes up the tree and leaves his keys on the ground you know what that old man did? Santiago grabs the keys and runs for the truck and drives off just as Demian manages to get down from the tree to catch him.

The rest of the film is about him and his son tracking down Santiago and the truck.  I won’t spoil the ending for you if you have not seen it.  It’s well acted and poignant.  I guess  the Hollywood libs want us to bleed for the poor illegals yet again.

Coming Soon: My Top Ten Films of the year

I have been consumed with my health issues this past month.  I have not been to a movie in  over  a month.  I was going to go to the Austin TX film fest but changed and that was the weekend that changed things.

I plan to get a list together.  I notice reviewers do mix the foreign with the domestic films with their reviews.  In addition my Netflix account I suspended while I was waiting for things to clear up.  I hope they get clearer.  I went through a big door and it did not kill me.  It seems lots of folks my age died or did suicide the past two months.  So, surviving is important.

I don’t want an email I want my Netflix back

The other day I too got an email in my inbox explaining how Reed messed up.  I don’t give a crap if you messed up.  I don’t want no stinkin email dude.  I want my Netflix back with unlimited streaming.

What’s more the new site that will be for the DVDs only is not even up and running.  The pure streaming which will remain Netflix is there but your queue will be in two different places and if you do both you will have two entries on your bill.

We need to split Reed in two for what he has not been thinking about.  How to build a better business and not wreck or wreak havoc on the brand that is or was worth millions.

WTF? Netflix splits in Two

Hell, we need to split Reed Hastings in two for this debacle that will cost jobs and his bottom line. Also the streaming is limited: also from

CNN: As website Stop the Cap points out, Netflix has always had a policy that limited streaming, with those on a single DVD or streaming-only plan limited to streaming one film at a time.

But it appears as if Netflix just started enforcing this rule on September 1. The changes seem to coincide with Netflix’s price hike, which took effect on Sept. 1 as well. Now, if you attempt to launch two movie streams, Netflix will block it and tell you that your membership plan doesn’t support multiple movie streams.

This is the kind of shit that makes subscribers really mad.  I had to change my package and I will miss unlimited streaming.  I will see if it improves and if so will go to that now on a new site! Again, WTF is up with that move? They say it is to better improve.  No, I take that back, Netflix will be where the streaming is found and Quixster will be where the DVDs come from.  How stupid.  I don’t buy the explanation either.  Yeah the CEO made a big mistake and he admits it but it could also sent Netflix stock reeling and even sound the death knell of the brand.

Netflix is rebranding its 12-year-old movies-by-mail service as Qwikster and adding video games to its catalog, Reed Hastings, the company’s CEO, announced Sunday night. The Web-streaming portion will continue to be called Netflix, he wrote on the company’s blog.

After the separation, people who subscribe to both services will have to log into two separate websites, and, to manage their movie queues and account information, Hastings wrote. Customer reviews and ratings from Netflix will be ported to Qwikster for the launch, but after that, people will have to rate and search for movies on each site separately, he wrote.

Qwikster’s site currently presents a landing page that says it is “launching soon.” Hastings did not offer a timeline for Qwikster’s debut. Andy Rendich, the operations chief and 12-year veteran of the company, will run the new mail-order arm.

Mel Gibson’s new Jewish film

Mel is making a film about the Maccabees and what later became the Hanukkah holiday for Jews around the world.  I have seen more Jewish cultural films than any other type on Netflix.  They are some of the best filmmaking because they transport you to that time and place.  I’ve have many past life visits to my lives in Jerusalem and what I saw has been confirmed by archeologists.

The buildings were tall edifices that were bright red in color and that has been confirmed.  I mean where did I get that.  I also dreamt of the foods we ate and cooked in the Holy Land.  I would live there in a heart beat except that they don’t want me there LOL.

Good stuff on streaming Netflix

Max Manus is excellent
Queen to Play is very good
Eyes Wide Open is a great look inside Israel and orthodox Jews really good movie for cultural reasons.  Note it is Israel’s Brokeback Mountain.  But that’s not why I thought it was a good film.

Netflix don’t push us to say “F You!”

Customers reacted angrily when Netflix announced earlier this month that it’s hiking prices on plans that include DVDs and streaming, in a move that highlights the company’s shift from physical discs to online video.

“It is expected and unfortunate that our DVD subscribers who also use streaming don’t like our price change, which can be as much as a 60% increase,” Netflix said in its earnings release.

The company acknowledged that “some subscribers will cancel Netflix or downgrade their Netflix plans, [but] we expect most to stay with us.”

Okay, I’ve been a fan of and used Netflix now for two  years.  I have the unlimited streaming and because I love Jews, documentaries, black people, French films, foreign films, HBO and all things niche market I found a lot to stream.  I got August to do a marathon watch before I have to decide.  I am going for this hike, no I’m not.  I checked and my present bill would go up almost six dollars to keep what I have.  I will probably downgrade to something else and then change up to another Netflix package so that I can get my fill.

I might do extra DVDs for a while to get caught up and no streaming, while I will be caught up on streaming, then when I get caught up on my DVDs change to streaming or a combo.  But I am trying to keep my bills down as I pay ATT for cable and high speed internet and that’s enough.  So my advice to Netflix don’t push us to say “f off.”

Amy didn’t wanna go to rehab now she’s dead, dead, dead at 27

Back To Black [Explicit] Amy Winehouse from Amazon–Found-dead-London-flat.html

There are lots of photos at this link late pics of the singer before she fell apart. In astrology the Saturn returns happens at age 28, so it is a pivotal age maybe that’s why some of these folks can’t get past 27. I am doing yoga and working out everyday so that I will be around longer this life than the last two. And here these folks are just giving up the ghost mostly through drugs. But does the OD from drugs and life happen more often to celebs? Because I know a bunch of folk and many men in my family who are either drug addicts or recovering and they’ve never overdosed. It seems that the celebs get too much of a good thing that they can afford. Have to ask about that one.

Cover of Gia (Unrated Edition)

The news this day showed Amy being taken out in a reddish body bag.  The paramedics said it was already too late.  Therefore she might have died late Friday.  Who called them?

This will go into my Famous Friday category because she might have really died early or rather late, late Friday.  But even if she died on Saturday afternoon in her London flat, like another one named Sylvia Plath, she was famous for a minute, not even fifteen minutes.

Amy Winehouse along with others including supermodel Gia, (photos of Gia which I just happened to see from Netflix today.  Angelina Jolie who has the letters G-I-A in her name, played the tragic model Gia, an Italian beauty who died at about 27 from AIDS and from a dirty needle which means that her addiction really killed her just like Amy Winehouse.  So even if Amy didn’t wanna go to rehab and even if she did not do drugs that day the drugs still killed her, yes, yes,  yes.  It could have led to a weakened heart from not eating and from losing protein and muscle in the heart.  She’s Jewish and if she didn’t need an autopsy she would already be in the ground, instead of rehab Amy.
