Verdict reached in MJ trial

The verdict has just been reached in the Conrad Murray case and we have to wait until it is read.  That means the judge has to come back to court and all that. It will be about two hours before the verdict is reached.

Day 2: Waiting for the Murray Verdict

The Death of Michael Jackson

Los Angeles (CNN)Jurors in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson‘s doctor return to the downtown Los Angeles County courthouse for a second day of deliberations Monday.

The seven men and five women must decide if Dr. Conrad Murray was criminally negligent in his use of the surgical anesthetic propofol to treat Jackson’s insomnia and if it significantly contributed to the singer’s 2009 death.

Jackson fans who shouted slogans, waved signs and sometimes argued with Murray supporters outside the courthouse Friday planned a more solemn verdict vigil Monday with candles, according to messages posted on fan websites.

HLN: Walgren making closing arguments in MJ case

The prosecutor Walgren is making closing arguments that will probably lead to Conrad Murray‘s convinction on manslaughter.  Conrad ordered four gallons of propofol just before MJ died.  He said he was trying to wean MJ off the drug but how could that be with four gallons of it in his girlfriend’s apt.  In addition he brought up the iphone conversation Murray taped and why was that when he could not even bother to keep good records

All Murray could say was that MJ was in good health and in fact he was skinny and dehydrated.

I think Murray will probably be convicted of this because the prosecution kept it simple it is a simple case of reckless behavior on the doctor’s part.

My aunt watched the whole thing and said that she thinks the drug industry and propofol is on trial and that the use of it dropped off sharply since the case and Michael Jackson’s death.  The courts don’t want to kill the big pharma now do they?

Will Murray be found guilty, probably.  The prosecution rests today.

“Doctor” Murry goes on trial today…will he beat the rap like Anthony?

Dr. Murray the graduate of Meharry Medical School who came from some island to attend medical school here goes on trial in the wrongful death of Michael Jackson.  Will he beat the rap like that Anthony woman did?  She’s white he’s black and from another country.

I said from the getgo he was NOT innocent but guilty and the Jackson family to their credit pursued it.

Movie Review: This Is It

This Is It–Is Here

I predict that this movie This Is It will be a big hit. Will it eclipse Paranormal Activity? In a sense it is the Hollywood version of same. Why? Because it could not have cost 100 million dollars like the Amelia bomber, and will probably gross far more than it cost. Then there are the DVD sales and rentals that will push this thing over the top.

It’s On in MJ land.

Kenny Ortega had a few things to say to TIME. He was the director of This Is It and told them that he could not get the film ready for MJ’s birthday but for Halloween. It will run for two weeks.

Celebrity Secrets For Sale

The last photo of Michael Jackson taken through the ambulance window as he lay dying (or already dead) was probably one of the luckiest photos of the decade. It sold to the highest bidder. But that get was just a drop in the paparazzi bucket. MJ died this past June, but the death of another celebrity — or rather, son of a celebrity — who died in January was back in the news.

Only recently has John and his wife been seen in public since the death of their beloved  son Jett. Medical problems dogged Jett’s life with seizures and in addition a form of autism. Because they are members of Scientology — John’s management of Jett’s medical issues only added insult to injury. They were too distraught to attend the cremation (may be a part of his belief system) ceremony of their son but remained in their secluded holiday hideaway for weeks.

When the extortion plot was exposed a trial date was set for those involved. John made plans to return to the Bahamas where his son died for the extortion trial. Jett, died January 2, 2009 while the family was on Christmas vacation. The circumstances surrounding his death were not suspect. The nanny tried to revive him and he was rushed to the local ER in the Bahamas. But the couple who transported the family involved saw it differently. They thought they had grounds for extortion.

The couple threatened to release documents that incriminated John Travolta but there were no such documents in the first place.

The price tag from the blackmailers in this case was $25 million dollars, in order that incriminating documents (they claimed) would not be released to the public. What were they thinking? The ransom was exorbitant but many other would-be sellers are getting paid for information marked “confidential.”  The sources are surprising and often official according to Nightline.

The selling of celeb secrets is a lucrative business. This black market is often filled by those on the lower rungs of the employment ladder who don’t have much to lose.

Two Ohio police chiefs illustrate this greed best. They however, were turned in by paparazzi! They were caught and arrested for breaking and entering Sarah Jessica Parker’s surrogate’s home in an effort to get information to sell to newspapers or tabloids.

In the case of the Michael Jackson’s photo inside the ambulance — that happened for a tenacious photog who had been waiting outside of Jackson’s rented mansion for something or anything to happen. In this case something did. The photographer did nothing criminal, unless you call standing in wait outside a private residence for days normal.

TMZ openly admitted that they too will pay for secrets and gossip from good sources, especially if they lead to a real story. One of the most outrageous secret leaks came in the case of Farrah Fawcett. She sued Lawanda Jackson for leaking medical news of her medical condition.  Farrah set up the “sting” before she died. She told her doctor that she would tell NO one that her cancer returned and if it got into the tabloids she knew the leak was on the inside. The story hit the tabloids the next morning.  While they bore the most guilt and responsibility–they are not alone. And this type of theft is nothing new.

Often celebrity sightings at hospitals, clinics or on vacation are the reason for gossip springs. Soon afterward actual medical information begins its short journey to willing buyers. As a former medical records technician I know that medical records are literally a paper trail. The records are hard copies filed with the patient’s number on it and the records are retrieved by a number. But how much security is that really? The thought of selling someone’s medical information is beyond criminal. It’s crazy.

While the extortion case for the Travoltas did not involve medical records per se it involved dubious documents that the sellers thought would bring a fortune. So be it photos, medical records or false documents  the paper trail laid out from earth to the moon is a lucrative business where death sells better than sex.

This is It — movie release date October 22

Just watched MJ as he spoke to the London crowd about his upcoming This is it tour and he was high. He was high as a kite with a helium balloon attached to it and the strings cut. He could barely speak and he had on the darkest glasses ever.

I never noticed before that he was out of his mind on something because they usually only show him with the peace salute. This time they showed him talking and he could barely talk. Jackson killed himself with those damn drugs.
