I have just listened to three audiobooks read by author Malcolm Gladwell. I have heard of him and his books but just happened upon his Tipping Point and Blink both of which are worth a read. He is not quite as smart as John McWhorter because in his interview with Gates he peppered his answers with lots of “ahms, and you know” I’m like WTF? This guy is not doing a good interview. Was he nervous or was there bad chemistry between the two talkers. During his many lectures Gladwell is well, coherent and not stumbling over his words.
My only problem with his thesis in Blink about thinking without thinking is that one is not using the brain or thoughts to reach lightning fast accurate assessments of situations that would harm them if they were to stop and think. It’s called intuituion and it operates above the mental plane not on it. So technically he is not correct but subjectively I can give him a pass on the book. It gets people to thinking about intuition or making choices without thinking but intuiting and TRUSTING THAT INTUIT.
Oh and how can I forget the Outliers about success. This October his new book ” David and Goliath” should be out in print.
He confirms one thing I know from my past life research that nurture and culture are huge and they are passed down just like genes to offspring. Not only that but particular traits are indeed part of a family’s DNA.
I also found this link about his genealogy and that his grandparent was named Thomas Adams. That’s strange because that’s my maiden name and my grandfather, not the same person of course, was also named Thomas Adams!
I will have to do a little more research because we in fact could be related through our European ancestors. It’s ironic because my anglo ancestors are mostly on my father’s side hence the name Adams. However, my mother’s people are Mediterranean hence my olive coloring and Italian ways.

In the latest episode of divorce celebrity style: Katie Holmes who returned to the small screen in The Kennedys and Tom Cruise who is starring in a broadway show about metal heads are calling it quits after a lavish wedding and a daughter named Suri.
The divorce episode of these two where millions are involved is probably pretty much settled if they had a prenuptial agreement.
Heloise recently wrote a review of the book “Inside Scientology” where Tom, and by default Katie loomed large on that creepy scene. I am sure Katie won’t need to go begging with her split with Tom. Rumors of Tom gayness and cultness probably doomed this marriage before the lavish Italian nupitals. What a waste.

Adam Yauch of the Beastie boys dead at 47
Adam Yauch, who performed under the stage name MCA, is dead, according to reports from Global Grind and TMZ.
MCA’s publicist just released a statement to TMZ, writing: “It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch … passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old.”
In July 2009, the Beastie Boys member announced that he would be receiving treatment for a cancerous tumor in his salivary gland, and that, as a result, the group would cancel some future shows and push back the release of a new album.

Since her father is white most would say that makes her white as well. Rebecca looks totally European much like Tracy Ross who also has a Jewish father. Hair type is also about the same.
Her dad is Jewish, not her mother. She had a baby boy out of wedlock with a married buddhist monk (black man married to a white woman having a baby with a biracial one) and found this tidbit:

Will Herman Cain erupt over lurid details?
That what I wonder now. I mean Cain has been run through the political and the media grist mill for his allegations of sexual harrassment. But he won’t be able to live down this new one. I mean this woman, Sharon Bialek, got up at the mike got herself a lawyer Gloria Allred and then the shit hit the fan. This is total damage control mode for Cain. I don’t see him getting past this one.

“Bitch is The New Black”—not in production

I had a little time on my hands so I thought I would surf the net. And discovered that Billy Bang died this spring. I never met the man but I knew of him from jazz circles and he had a bit of fame on the jazz set and that there was a memorial for him in NYC and that he died of lung cancer and was a violin player. He died of lung cancer and that made me wonder if it was because of all the night life and surrounded by heavy cigarette smoke back in the day. He was 63 and was playing the gigs and the sets long before smoking was banned in public places. But maybe it never got banned in bars don’t know because I don’t go to bars. Anyway, dude this blog’s for you.
Okay, so after I find that news about Bang I keep digging because I also recalled that a certain Shonda Rimes of Grey’s Anatomy fame and production bought the rights for the book by Helena Andrews “Bitch is the New Black” to adapt it to the big screen. That was back in 2009 and the book was released in 2010. I have never read the book nor did I have the intention to read such tripe by an under-30-year-old; who thinks that she needs to write a memoir instead of a long short story or instead of a series online or a blog about her mother being a lesbian, big deal, about being a black woman in a white man’s world at Politico, which she does not write about according the many reviews I perused and that seems really the point. What nerve I give her that. What ego.
I mean she left or got booted from Politico. I think she wrote some junk column trying to imitate Heloise at blog critics and it was just fluff stuff while Heloise’s stuff had some hard-hitting commentary and opinion. Andrews was a young pup and I guess held her own until she couldn’t help herself and decided to write a book.
So, she writes a memoir and does not want to besmirch the name of Politico and the other places she wrote as a lesser light in their pantheon of writers. What else does this black bitch, her words not mine, have to say for herself? It seems not much. She muses about stuff like the white woman astronaut who beat the crap out of a woman for screwing her man. Come on black bitches everywhere have the goods on this shit. I know more true juicy stories about what black women have done to their men and to the woman they found together than having to pull something from the headlines about a woman who is not even your race or your peer.
Andrews writes for The Root now, wonder why, and after desperately searching/scouring the Net I could only find a few links that pointed to the fact that back when, like two years ago, the book was under development as a film. But the links go bust from there. There is no current news on this heist by Shonda.
Does Shonda now have cold feet? I think she can do better than the garbage put out by a black bitch from DC who does not even talk about what it’s like being a single black woman in DC trying to find a man. That place is a wasteland for black women bitch or otherwise and everybody knows it.
My cousins happened to have lived and worked there and an aunt who worked for the National Restaurant Association and one of her daughters actually married a black man, successful architect, from DC. But my cousin looks like a damn movie star and it seems to me that is what it took to get a black man even back then. Forget Chicago black men.
My point is that this Andrews surely could have come up with something better than a memoir which is pointless when you are not even thirty. Why not just write a screenplay or a novel about being black in DC and call it a day? I think the reason is that it would not have had a chance to get published.
BTW that was another criticism that I read at Amazon that women were wondering how in the hell did this woman get her book published in the first place? Was it because she denigrated black women as bitches ala Tina Fey? I think so. One thing’s for sure there ain’t no movie coming out soon, thank God, or ever with the title “Bitch is the new Black.” And that’s the end of that.

Seek solutions instead of saviors. That’s why for me this global occupy and Occupy Wall Street is all about the parties, the two parties that we have in this country who have sold us out. It does not matter if the party is Dem or GOP or if the man is black or white or both. The money that it now takes to become president is obscene. It is all about the money IMO and I think that is what people are reacting to the greed is wide as the ocean. OWS need to start with two criminals: Chris Dodd and Barney Frank for the infamous Frank-Dodd bill.
We are living in an ocean of greed. It does not matter which party is in power or what the professed creed. I believe it is ONE GREED. Two parties—One Greed. We can do better in this country. We can bring jobs back if we look for solutions instead of saviors.

The biggest cry from the street seems to be: END THE FED; Wall Street got bailed out and we got sold out. “The Right and the Left Agree–End the Fed!” truth on a sign of the times…end the freakin Fed. Is this where the anti semitism on OWS is coming from?
Here’s the latest one I saw: $5 Billion dollar tax cut helps the (greedy) NEEDY Billionaires. The word greedy has a line through it! Gotta love it.
There is a whole lot of double standard going on with the Tea Party who does not like the Occupy Wall Street lefty movement. Black folks have always said that when something is a problem in our community only…then who cares? But when it hits white folks then the whole world stops and action is taken. Is that what’s happening now? I don’t see any illegal aliens carrying signs out there do you?

I am not on either side. I lost money on Wall Street and made money in stock market as well. But the chasm is getting wider between the haves and have something. You can’t say they have nothing come on.
There have been prophecies perhaps related to this new global occupy and it goes something like: the power of Washington will be moved to another city in this country. That could be New York City and the Wall Street banksters. And all that goes with Wall Street and the inevitable bailouts for them. When slaves were very bad they were literally “sold down the river.”
Then there is the lie that the people in protests are kooks. They are not. There are teachers and the newly unemployed and the newly impoverished. In Chicago Ed Shultz was there interviewing the president of the union for CPS (Chicago Public Schools) Karen Lewis. Just before she did the interview she was in a red dress holding a sign with the rest of the protestors. She gave Ed an earful of about how Rahm Emanuel evicerated the 4% raise CPS teachers were to get and went right to Springfield to make it impossible for teachers in future to negotiate their contracts with the union.
This is getting real folks. Occupy Wall Street going global.

At a press event in New York City on Wedesnday, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos took the wraps off the company’s tablet offering.
The Kindle Fire will sell for $199, will run a modified version of Google’s Android operating system, will feature a 7-inch display and will be deeply integrated with Amazon’s cloud storage system and its massive online content library of books, music and more. According to AllThingsD’s live blog of the event, pre-orders open for the Fire on September 28; devices will ship November 15.
Ahead of the official announcement, Bezos gave Bloomberg Businessweek some of the details about the tailor-made OS and the content that will be available on the Fire.
