Identity: Your Passport to Success by Stedman Graham at Amazon

Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power by Rachel Maddow (it has good reviews and is #10 on Amazon so if you jest luv you some gay jew then buy her book)

What has this man done other than mooch off a Oprah?  I think he’s a business man and had a tough childhood but who the hell cares? I don’t.  They never married and there is no wonder.  He  is arm candy for sure even with gray hair.

He was on Joe and the Jews (Halperin, Allen and Karins the weatherman and Maddow) this morning touting his new book I wouldn’t get out of the library.

It is probably full of platitudes about being yourself.  What else is new?

UP w/ Chris Hayes

Up with Chris Hayes

Image via Wikipedia

I watched the recorded version of UP with Chris Hayes which airs live over the weekend.  He to his credit usually has at least one or two black folks from the ivory towers to talk about the fodder from the week past.

But this Saturday I began to wonder if they were not more than window dressing.  When there is something that relates to black people that’s one thing.  But when it comes to economics or something really heavy the black people are made to sit silently.  McWhorter did not say more than two short sentences this saturday and the woman Michaela Davis, don’t know what she’s doing there, said even less.

I am starting to notice a pattern with his show.  Okay we know Chris is Jewish and he got his start from another Jewish host–Rachel Maddow.  But he typically has one or more Jews on his show and peppered with at least one black, which is a good thing.

But don’t let them be seat holders Chris.  I expect a little more.  Melissa does speak up whenever she is on anybody’s show.  Nobody is going to shut her up.  I hope she does not take over her show like Joe does and talks over everybody and uses up the majority of air and waves.

No show is perfect but at least don’t let the black knowledgeable folks embarrass themselves with their stupid silence.

MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY  whose show will bear her name “Melissa Harris-Perry”

TO DEBUT WEEKEND PROGRAM ON MSNBC (where my old boss Aretha Marshall works–I wonder, since she is in charge of hiring talent DID she play a role in hiring women who look like her! Especially Alex  Wagner)

—FEBRUARY 4th 10 AM-NOON ET–or pushed back to Feb 18?

WEEKEND LIVE PROGRAMMING TO EXPAND: “WEEKENDS WITH ALEX WITT” TO AIR 7-8 AM ET SATURDAYS,  NOON-2 PM ET SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

“UP W/CHRIS HAYES” TO AIR 8-10 AM ET SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

NEW YORK—January 5, 2012—MSNBC contributor Melissa Harris-Perry is the latest addition to MSNBC’s expanding weekend lineup. Her new program, set to air Saturdays and Sundays 10a-noon ET, will debut on MSNBC February 4th. The announcement was made by MSNBC President Phil Griffin.

I mentioned her in a blog http://blogcritics.org/politics/article/the-age-of-opinion/

And what would this hour of power be without a woman? Melissa Harris-Perry, writer  and  professor at Tulane University, has been popping up like dandelions in a hot  rainy  spring. She’s everywhere these days after making frequent appearances on  the Rachel Maddow  Show.  I don’t think anyone could have  assembled more  staunch supporters of President  Obama.  They comprise the new insiders, as long as Obama is president.  Then there are  the  outsiders: Tavis  Smiley and  Cornell West.  They are undertaking a bus poverty tour and  asking Obama not to  change the subject.  The subject is jobs, jobs for the black  community who is  hurting at 16 percent unemployment nationally.  Shouting matches have  been  breaking out all over national television between authentic blacks and   plantation politicians.  Both terms have been around for decades, but in the age  of  opinion they take on new meaning in light of this country’s first “black”  president.

Melissa Harris-Perry to get show on MSNBC

It seems that MSNBC loves biracial women.  She is born the same year as my daughter.  But my daughter (multiracial) has green eyes and natural hair that looks like a Diana Ross wig.

So, yet another biracial woman from a middle class educator background has landed a plum job on the network that begins February 4 in the 10-12 slot.  Does that mean she is moving from NOLA in order to do the show?  She recently married and recently changed her hair to look more black with the fat weave braids.  It will pull out your hair eventually Melissa.  I asked for more diversity on TV but it seems it’s more like biracial diversity.  That’s okay too.  What are her credentials? She is a poli-sci professor which makes her an instant professional pundit.  She has a good sense of humor too.  We will see how long it lasts.

Melissa was born in 1973, daughter of William M. Harris, Sr., the dean of Afro-American affairs at the University of Virginia and Diana Gray, a white community college professor and activist who worked for non-profits that assisted poor communities. Melissa has said of her heritage, “I’ve never thought of myself as biracial. I’m black.” Perhaps her next book might look at the psychology and life choices of biracial persons in America, given both her attitudes and the problems of our President.

Above is a sarcastic sort of blog about why Rachel Maddow stand ins end up with their own show? Two so far and that is significant if you ask me.

Obermann out at MSNBC–Rachel Reacts

After 8 years of stupid stuff I never watched Obermann is through. He brought in that horrible Rachel Madcow so I hope she is done too. Stick a fork in both of those potatoes.

Here is the link and the video. Sounds like Rachel Maddow and others at MSNBC and Comcast did not give a damn because it was not her.

Just by coincidence Rachel Maddow was on Bill Maher last night shortly after Olbermann made his sudden exit from MSNBC and had this to say:

Yeah, it’s been a big day at MSNBC…at least it’s been a big 15 minutes…I know very little about it, all I know is that it was between Keith and the company and it didn’t involve any of the rest of us and he was really gracious and nice when he left.

Sounds like Maddow, and likely the rest of the office, had a sense this was coming for a while.

Cut From The Same Cloth, liberally

I was inspired to write this today when I heard that Ben Domenech (Repub) wrote a little somethin’ somethin’ about Ms. Kagan. He said he thought everybody knew she was a closeted gay or that it was common Harvard Square knowledge. Likely story Ben boy.  Here’s the link and it’s a good read too. The WH no like Ben’s assertion because they know it will kill her candidacy dead if there’s a whisper about being gay. She’s not gay, but she is Jewish the two often go together, ask Rachel!

But from Heloise here are five accomplished women for your consideration. Remember the days when blacks were stereotyped? And folks were asked if you were related to a pure stranger just because you stood next to each other? Or that you were related to someone you were not relatd to? Well, check out the mug shots of five highly accomplished women. No need to stereotype here. Who knew? Never thought I would get to give some of it back. But here it is. Oh, and Madeleine was adopted and didn’t know she was Jewish. She should have asked Heloise. Rachel admits she’s gay and we know she’s Jewish.

Perfect.

They did not all go to Harvard. But maybe the public should not be going to the Harvard trough so often for candidates of one stripe or another. We will never learn.

Andrea Mitchell has her own show?

She must have pulled some strings. It is during the day and on cable at MSNBC. I think they needed another female to balance out their mostly white male lineup daytime talking head politics. She was just with Hillary Clinton, remember her? She is a regular on Morning Joe and prompted me to write the “Morning Joe elevator does not go all the way to the top.” It was pointed at Mitchell. Now, she has her own show? Wonders never cease.

Hopefully, she won’t be as boring as Rachel Maddow whom I can’t watch anymore.

White Shirt — My MJ collar-up look

White Shirt -- collar up

White Shirt -- collar up

Note the hair, nose, face and features are real. No plastic surgery for that gal. Yes I do look like MJ at one point through his surgeries. And though I am technically not biracial my 3 races and 6 ethnic groups mix– place me at about 60 percent white.
That includes a smaller percentage of actual Anglo-Saxon blood. As a nurse once quipped to me “you look just like my cousin who is half Irish and Italian (Sicilian maybe). Them’s the racial breaks.

Anyhow, I just learned that prof. Melissa Lacewell Harris, a frequent guest on that singular lesbian Jew– Rachel Maddow. Melissa is often called upon to speak to all things black–is in fact herself biracial. Not a bad thing, just sayin’. But she looks like a typical pretty black girl from Chatham (Chicago’s black mecca) where I grew up.

That’s why I can spot a black American from an African instantly. Even the Ethiopians (light bulb heads) who are racially mixed don’t look like us. They look just, well, like each other. I digress. Race fascinates.

TIVO Or Not TIVO — Politicos and TV shows I can no longer watch

During the political heat of last year by the time I watched the news or CNN it was old news. Online sites had captured the whole thing in a capsule. Then I would blog it and research it and I was an expert. No need for the papers, too late, no need for the news, too soft.

I used TIVO in the headlines to play off “To Be” I use a DVR, but you get my drift.

There is mucho blog chatter about ratings for post-election political talk shows. The ratings are down, and Heloise suspects that the TIVO or DVR crowd has also cut back on the programs that it records for later watching.

For the record I record all the 5:30 major news networks. That is redundant because each one repeats one.

I made that up, but it is soooo true. But I record them just the same. I also record all the Sunday talking heads: from McLaughlin to Meet the Press. I press that record series setting.

Reading on Huffpo today got me to thinking about Chris Matthews’ Hardball. I no longer record his show. Why because it was not record-worthy. I no longer record Rachel Maddow show. Why? She was getting boring with a capital B. She just got duller and duller as she continued to talk bad Bush and good Bush (which I am sure she is conversant with) and I lost interest.

I watched with rapt interest Dancing with the Stars and American Idol, but no more, bye bye Idol Stars!

Then there are the other shows I TIVO — Celebrity Apprentice, Top Model, 60 Minutes, Dateline, 20/20 and a few specials as they arise.

That’s my list more or less. It was what kept me abreast of the rest.
